Growing up in the USA during the 1960's, I watched a lot of television. It was new and exciting; especially as it gradually transitioned from black and white to color. Screens got larger and pictures got fuzzier. Ah, those were the days, weren't they? I remember the situation comedies the most. TV shows like Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Gilligan's Island, and of course The Beverly Hillbillies.
Every show had catchy theme music, an unlikely hero, and of course, a PRETTY GIRL. The transition from the conservative "good girl" look to the more "outwardly sexy" image followed the rise of the "peace and love" movement in the latter part of the 1960's. And the little boys loved it! I know. I was one of them. Although I had a crush on pretty much every girl on TV at the time, I always had a special curiosity for Elly May. She was mysterious to me. She never seemed to have a boyfriend. She didn't act like the pretty girl she was. She just loved her critters and paid little attention to anything else. Kind of a Tomboy, but I always thought that she likely had a more "grown up" and "sensual" side to her that we just never were allowed to see. Well that's what I always imagined anyway.
I hope you enjoy Elly May's Private Zoo. ~Mark
Elly May's Private Zoo
Little Elly May had her private zoo
Blue jeans so tight, she ain't wearing no shoes
Little Elly May had her private zoo
She fed all the critters from everywhere
Little Elly May had her private zoo
With a mouse in her pocket and another one too
Elly was "a little boy fantasy"...
